What
a way to start the season!
At Champion's Classic Camp last summer, the NDP Sideline cheerleaders were the only team to earn all 5-star ribbons at
evaluations. We also took home one of the four Mega Awards, the Positive Mental Attitude megaphone! The only two seniors out
of the entire camp to be named Camp Champs were NDP cheerleaders Stephanie and Lauren - congratulations, girls! The team was
also invited to perform during the halftime show of the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day in Florida.
Practice, football games, pep rallies and tailgates!
Early on in the fall, Coach Erin stepped down from her position as head coach, and after some interviewing by the Athletic
Department, Amanda Younga, former coach of the Varsity cheer team at St. Lawrence Elementary, took the position.
Despite changes to the program, Coach Amanda had us working hard, and the team was looking great. We practiced nearly every
day (including Saturday mornings) outside, in the heat, and everyone on the team had wonderful cheer short tanlines. For our
halftime routines at football games, we performed the cheers we learned at camp. We spent most of our practices throughout
the season learning and perfecting our cheer for the Homecoming pep rally and football game.
Our performances at the pep rally and game were great! We have never received such a positive response from the crowd,
students and parents alike. It looked like all the practicing was paying off!
Football season was a lot of fun. Before each home game, the cheerleading parents put together tailgates. Nearing the end
of the season, we had a team sleepover at Cara's house, which brought us even closer, if possible.
The 2004 Sideline season was a good one - the team improved a lot
and managed to have fun doing it. Thank you to everyone who supported and continues to support us along the way!
